Nurses are intentional beings who deserve intentional gifts! I compiled a list of 20 EPIC gifts that they can receive for the holidays this year! If you feel this list is share-worthy, please share!

1. A Massage Gift Card – since hospitals waste their money on  keychains and pizza parties throughout the year, but your nurse something that REALLY makes a difference! I used to think massages were a luxury. NOW they are a necessity! This is the PERFECT gift for every nurse!

2. Hydroflask – a GOOD water bottle goes a long way! I’m convinced a nurse needs a new water bottle every year! There be all kinds of MRSA growin’ up all on it!

10 Unspoken TRUTHS That Need To Be Normalized In Nursing!

I’ve been a nurse for almost 7 years now and it’s become quite apparent with the results from my surveying, polling, and research from nurses what truly matters most to them when it comes healthy work environments. In my past 7 years of Nursing, it’s become quite evident to me that over the years we’ve passed down a VERY false belief & mindset about what nurses should (and shouldn’t) be taking on. What does this mean for nurses? It means that nurses are simply a means to an end: PROFIT. The number of patients we see in a day, the number of patients we get in and get out, the number of surgeries physicians perform, and how happy and satisfied these patients are all influence a hospital’s profit. So what does this have to do with nursing? Well let’s talk about it. Continue Reading

I Hate Being A Nurse – and 7 Things You Can Do About It!

I Hate Being A Nurse and 7 Things I Can Do About It!

Nursing can be extremely draining and it doesn’t take long before the words get muttered from your mouth, “I hate being a nurse!” You’re not alone! With the state of Healthcare where it’s at, it’s more of a business than ever. Within the past 10 years I’ve seen a HUGE shift in how hospitals are run. What used to be run by Physician Groups is now being led by Giant Corporations and Share Holders. As a result, the “business” has taken extreme priority over patient care. The reason I can confidently say this is because within the past 7 years, I’ve watched middle aged millennial, non-clinical, MBA prepared individuals step into the role of Nursing Management with a fancy title of “Operation Manager.” Continue Reading
