My sister introduced it to me and at first and I thought it was so strange! It reminded my of one of those electrical transformers outside of the house I grew up in that used to scare me as a kid except it was sitting on her counter! But here’s the deal, I’m a HUGE water drinker! I’ve always used bottled water and a BRITA because I wanted clean, pure water and couldn’t get that from my tap! At this point I had been drinking BRITA & Bottled Water for YEARS! To say that I hated refilling the container, having empty bottles all over my house, replacing the filter all of the time, and having to lug up giant packs of bottled water into my apartment weekly was never fun. It took me a good 3 months to really be convinced that the Berkey was worth it, but that’s because I’m a natural skeptic. I research everything and want to make sure that whatever I’m investing in is WORTH the investments. SO I did some research and I wanted to share with you what I learned in the process.
PURE filtered water is REALLY hard to come by these days, and it is SO important for your health. I drink water 99% of the time, and my Berkey is quite possibly my best friend! You might see her appearance in a lot of my photos on social, especially when I’m traveling! Most of us don’t have a clue about the chemicals and contaminants in our tap water today, nor do we know their long-term effects. We trust that everything is OK, but it’s not.

I have the Royal and it’s just my husband and I. I recommend getting this size. The Travel Berkey is smaller, and I know would require refilling daily. The travel is great for a single person who doesn’t drink a TON of water OR for someone who wants a compact convenient traveling system. I refill my Royal every 2-3 days. It was seriously the BEST investment! I use for cooking, coffee, and drinking water. I have PURE, SAFE, and CLEAN water no matter where I go!

Please note that I recommend placing 2 clear glasses in the filtered water reservoir (the bottom bart of your Berkey) so that in the event that the “filtered” water does turn a little pink (from red dye seeping in), you can figure out which filter is causing the dye to seep through and adjust accordingly!
